I’m Pallavi Thampi, a creative technologist and design researcher who examines how systems and design shape the ways we relate to one another.

As a design researcher, I’m curious about how people think and work — and focused on asking the right questions before jumping to solutions.  I’ve worked across start-ups, social innovation labs, government teams, and large institutions, always through a lens of inclusivity. Whether I’m building a database to help traffic engineers make safety decisions, designing reflective tools for career growth, or visualizing friendship networks, my goal is to make complex systems more human and help people feel seen within them.

Outside of work, I’ve founded community initiatives such as Queer Melanin, creating spaces for racialized LGBTQ+ people and leading everything from design and research to event planning and coordination. In my spare time, I take film portraits and write fiction, tackle DIY home projects, and go on long walks with my snarky Basenji mix, Kali.
